The General Electric AC4400 Locomotives were the first non-EMD locomotives bought or leased by the KCS in decades when they came onto the property. Add
to that the fact that they had AC power having to go through a transformer
before heading to the traction motors instead of the older straight DC ones and it
is proof that these locomotives were head and shoulders above the competitors as the KCS engine shop crews had generations of experience working on the faithful EMD products. At almost 73 feet long these were the longest power on the road
for over 10 years. This book shows the locomotives including the NAFTA paint job and includes all the details of them inside and out. There is an entire chapter
devoted to the cab interior of this modern class and because these units are
often run by Mexican crews of TFM all of the placards and information is bilingual.
